Let’s be real for a second. We live in a world of corporate ghosting and LinkedIn thirst traps, yet we are still playing the most transparent game in existence. I am talking about the “Why do you want to work here?” question.
It is the professional equivalent of being on a second date and being asked, “What is it about me that you like?” when you both know the truth. You are thinking: You have a stable pulse, your profile did not use a filter from ten years ago, and I am exhausted from being single in this economy. We all know the dance, yet we keep performing it.
I see it every single day. Candidates walk into the room or join the Zoom call and deliver a line so rehearsed and so utterly devoid of soul that I have to fight the urge to check my phone. We know the lie. You know the lie. Since this is a special edition, let’s just drop the act and talk about how to tell that lie so well it actually starts to sound like the truth.
